Unless you avoid television and the internet, you have probably heard of the Amazon Kindle. The Kindle reader is a nifty little device that allows you to read books, magazines, newspapers, blogs and more on a cute and compact little handheld wireless device.

Think of it like an iPod for books, as you can store over 200 of your favorite books in this tiny machine and read them anytime you like wherever you happen to be. And if you are thinking of getting a new book - no problem, just download it right to your Kindle in just a few minutes.
Related Videos:

It all sounds good right, so does that mean that you should rush out and buy one right now?

Well Oprah certainly seems to think so. The Amazon Kindle Reader was listed as one of her favorite things in October 2008 and you all know what happens when Oprah recommends something - they fly off the shelves!

And that is just what happened as the Kindle became out of stock and left many people Kindle-less for Christmas. Currently Amazon is producing more readers and shipments are expected mid February so it will be a long wait for some customers.

If you are prepared to wait then perhaps putting your name on the waiting list is something you want to do, but before you rush out and hand over your credit card you need to take into consideration if you really must have the Kindle reader or just want to have the latest cool gadget.

I mean does anyone really need a PlayStation 3 or an iPod? (OK, my boyfriend would probably say yes to both of those things).

Yes the Kindle is handy, especially if you are an avid reader - but it is expensive so is not for everyone.

So if you currently read a lot of books, or would like to take your collection travelling with you, or even if money is no object then go ahead and purchase the Amazon Kindle Reader, but if you are broke and on a budget - visit the library instead.

Related Information:
Can you use an Amazon Kindle on an airline flight?
I'm hoping a flight attendant can tell me what the rules are - will I be allowed to read my Kindle in flight?

Yes, you can!

This year the Amazon kindle looks set to be one of this years hottest gifts. In this article we look at the kindle and more importantly we look at where to buy them if amazon are sold out.

In recent months the Amazon Kindle wireless reader has been proving extremely popular with both gadget addicts and bibliophiles. This neat little toy will make a wonderful gift for anyone you know this Christmas and as with other things recommended by Oprah this quickly sold out. If you are not sure if whether investing some money in it below we show you some of the advantages to be had from owning one of these.

1. Although the initial cost of purchasing the Amazon Kindle is high you are going to end up saving yourself quite a bit in the future. Instead of spending money purchasing books in paperback format you now can download them in electronic format directly on to the Kindle.

2.	No longer do you need to drive to the bookstore or the library to get the book you want or have to wait for a number of days before it gets delivered.
Related Videos:

What you do is log into Amazon and then just download the eBook you are interested in after you have purchased it from them.

3.	Having a Kindle is more environmentally friendly as no longer do you need to purchase books in paper format. Which in turn means that far less trees will have to be cut down to actually create more books for us to read.

4.	If you spend a lot of time away from home or travelling on public transport then rather than carrying around a heavy book or having to try and open the newspaper in a crowded space you just get your Kindle out.

5.	As well as being able to download books on to the Kindle to read it has the facility to download news as well. So no matter where you are or where you are going you can keep in touch with what is happening elsewhere.

6.	You don't have to pay any fees in order to use the Kindle wireless reader if you want to do some browsing online.

7.	Each Kindle comes with a rechargeable battery that will last for several days once fully charged. Plus it also offers the facility to allow you to actually use it even when the battery is being charged.

8.	Also not only can you download plain text files on to your Kindle to read, but it has the option to allow you to download mp3 files as well. This means that as you read you can listen to some great music as well.

9.	Along with the Kindle being light weight it is very user friendly and navigating around it is extremely easy. You no longer need to spend time turning pages yourself as this device does it for you and so as you read you won't have to scroll up and down it.

10. This will make the perfect gift for those who say that they have everything or if you are having problems deciding what gift to get someone you care for. However, if they already have one of these not only are they lucky but you could purchase some electronic reading material for it for them.

Although the cost getting one is high and at the moment finding them to purchase is a problem they are worth the investment. Certainly if you are having problems finding one on Amazon then there are other options available.

Related Information:
I really want to get an Amazon Kindle, but are they really good enough for the price?
I am only a tween thats obsessed with reading, but the Kindle is made for adults. What should I do?

The Kindle is not only for adults. I can definitely tell you that. I personally love my Kindle.. the only thing that bothers some people is the fact that you can't hold a book.. or collect them like you used to.

If you buy 3 paperback books a month for a few years, the Kindle actually pays for itself because of the discounts they have on all of there books!

Goodluck!!!

Internet Marketers need to be exploiting new technologies, such as the Amazon Kindle. This article looks at three different ways that the Kindle can enhance any business. It includes ideas that improve the life of a marketer, as well as ways that the Kindle can be used to support sales.

Ebook readers like the Amazon Kindle provide an excellent opportunity for marketers to exploit them and squeeze out every penny. A Kindle is a great investment and should be owned by every marketer. It's portable, easy to read and can store a huge number of books. This is far more important in the modern world than carrying around a large number of paperbacks. But, how as a marketer can you best use all of the opportunities presented to you through the Kindle? This article explores three of the possibilities.

First, you should be thinking about the Kindle as a personal tool, designed to help your learning. All the versions of the Kindle support PDF documents, which can be loaded directly onto the device and viewed.
Related Videos:

This is excellent if you've purchased an ebook or are looking to learn about a new Internet Marketing topic. Rather than being restricted to reading this on a computer screen, which is often inconvenient, you can read this on the Kindle instead. By using this technique you can be gaining more expertise as a marketer wherever you are.

Second, you can sell your own ebooks directly on the Kindle. This can get them massive exposure on the Kindle store. Simply take a product that you have already created and look into how to convert this to run on the Kindle. Amazon provides all the tools you need to sell an ebook you have in MS Word format directly in the proprietary format used by the e-reader device. A number of other formats are also supported. Sell the ebook for a low price to get it out to a maximum number of consumers, or for a higher price to maximise your profits.

Thirdly, consider using an e-reader ready version of your ebook as a bonus for purchasers. This needs not be done directly through Amazon. You can handle this all for yourself using third party software. One example is the open source Calibre. Convert your ebook to an e-reader ready format and this will work on multiple devices, including the Kindle and its competitors. Although your customers can do this for themselves, by saving them this additional step you are saving them time and can ensure that the ebook reader version is laid out exactly how you want it.

Do make sure, as a marketer, that you're taking full advantage of all the options offered to you by the Amazon Kindle. Use it to aid your own learning and to increase your sales, both through Amazon and as a third party. It is an excellent time to get into the Kindle marketplace.

Related Information:
With the Amazon Kindle, can you share your Kindle Books with other people who have a Kindle?
I'm thinking about getting a kindle, but my sister and I always share books... I could just give her my kindle to read the books, but I read all the time and I would have to go without while she had it. If I were to get one for her, would I be able to transfer my kindle books onto her kindle? Or would she have to buy the books I already paid for?

If they share an account. You can share on up to 6 devices on one account. My husband and I share our kindle account and its nice not to fight over who gets the book first anymore :) The only problem there is that you can only have one credit card registered, but you can apply giftcards so you'd have to figure out the whole who's paying and how thing.

Oh, and the nook does allow sharing but you need to read the fine print. It only allows you to loan the books ONE time for 14 days max. And that's only on about half non-copywritten books in their store. So its very, very limited. And last time I poked my head into the nook forums they were still having issues figuring out how to share them without the software screwing it up. Unfortunately their software is horrible still. I was hoping for some real competition for Amazon.

Oh and you can't just move the files from your kindle to hers. The files are keyed to a specific kindle (its the same with the nook and sony reader, part of the DRM)

Some of the other features of it are much improved performance, built in speakers and an amazing text-to-speech audio reading feature.

The Amazon Kindle knows no boundaries when it comes to user age group. From students to retirees, including celebrities like Oprah, it has established itself as a favorite gadget of many. It looks good when it's not in use and great when it is. One of its less celebrated but most gallant attributes is the quality of the display. The text and images are to the eyes what music is to the ears. The Kindle will rightly kindle reading in people. That's for sure!

The Kindle line is renowned for their breakthrough technology so the outstanding display of the Kindle 2 comes as no surprise. That's also where the rubber hits the road insofar as reading is concerned and Amazon is well aware of it. Behind what appears on the screen are some very ingenious engineering and science to emulate the natural appearance and readability of the paper print culminating in the thoroughly paper-like display of the Kindle 2 today.
Related Videos:

At the heart of the Kindle display is the Electronic Ink Digital Display technology. It's the reason why readers are able to go for hours free of eye strain or tiredness. The screen itself does not heat up either since there's no backlight. As a result, the display of this e-reader is absolutely non-glaring. The text can be changed over a range of 6 font sizes so everything essentially can be in large print if so desired. This is a big plus with those who are dependent on bi-focal or reading glasses.

Although the maiden Kindle already had a pretty formidable display, Amazon never let up on their trademark cutting-edge technology. That's basically how and why the Kindle 2 is able to boast an even crisper paper-like screen. Resolution, shade scale and image stability have all been greatly enhanced. In technical terms, the display is now powered by a 16-level gray scale with 167 pixels per inch resolution at 250 millisecond refresh rate upon electronic ink bubble and film technology.

The Kindle 2 is drastically different in appearance from its predecessor which was somewhat quirky and sci-fi looking. Its conservative and no-nonsense style makes the user come across as smart but yet doesn't steal the limelight from its contents be they books or periodicals. The screen is appropriately located with emphasis on ergonomics and functionality rather than looks thus toeing the philosophy of 'lost in your reading, not in the technology'.

Derived from a combo technology of Physics, Chemistry and Electronics in unison, the Amazon Kindle display is a godsend for hardcore readers. Above all the benefits and convenience it delivers, it has the welfare of your eyes in mind. You will never wear out your eyes with a Kindle. Whether you are a book lover, tech geek or gadget freak, you will love your Kindle and its super duper display. So will your eyes and that's a guarantee.

Related Information:
Once I download a book for my Amazon kindle, is it available to read even where there is no wifi network?
Is the book actually downloaded on the device?
i will be in the US for about 6 months then coming back to Canada; but Canada does not have the kindle available yet.
Does anyone know?

There is a very good discussion here about using Kindle outside of United States:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http://www.amazon.com/gp/forum/cd/discussion.html?ie=UTF8&cdForum=FxBVKST06PWP9B&cdPage=1&cdThread=TxY5C3QQT7MCI1&tag=moreinfo-po-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

So everything will work except the wireless internet access, and you can read books which are already on your Kindle. If you use an Amazon account with US credit card and shipping address, you can even buy any books you want from Kindle store and download to your computer, then transfer it to your Kindle. This is like the method used when a US people travel to other countries.

So if you have a friend in the U.S., you can send the link of the Kindle device or Kindle book that you want to your friend, and ask may be ask them to buy it for you.

And in case you haven't got the Kindle device, take the chance as Amazon has recently announced a price slash on the Kindle 2. It is now selling $60 cheaper than the price I got mine (which is $359 when I got mine).

Hope it helps :)

Amazon Kindle is really popular at the moment but did you know you can make money by writing and selling your own Kindle e-books? Kindle ebooks are a simple way to make extra money, just upload your ebook, sit back and collect money automatically. You might think that ebooks don't sell anywhere near as well as hard cover books but you are in for a surprise.

In case you didn't know, Amazon reports that e-book sales have tripled since last year, and that Kindle ebooks have outsold their hard-cover versions by 43 percent over the last quarter.

Another smart move from Amazon was to recently release the Kindle apps. This means that customers don't actually need a Kindle device to buy from Amazon. If you are publishing for Kindle your customers with iPad's and the Kindle App can still buy them, same if they own a Droid, they can buy using the Kindle App, PC, MAC, etc.

What this means to you is that the market is now much larger which, in a nutshell, means more sales.

If you think that no-one makes money by writing and selling a Kindle ebook then look up Stieg Larsson, author of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". Steig has become the first writer to sell more than one million Kindle e-books, which shows it is very possible.

Are you going to sell a million Kindle e-books? Maybe... maybe not, as it all depends on what you write about and how you write it, but it's possible to make a steady income for paying off bills and such.

And the best part is, the market will never become saturated. There is no end to the amount of people looking for information on their favourite subject. If you can write an ebook on a popular topic who knows what will happen. You could be the next Stieg Larsson!

Selling Kindle ebooks is only just getting started and you can learn all the tricks to creating and uploading your books and then start making money! And the great part is that once you you have published your Kindle ebook you will keep on making money effortlessly.

Discover how to quickly and easily upload your products to Amazon's Kindle system and then how to effectively promote your other products by clicking here.

No programming skills are needed - if you know how to create a Word document then you can do it.

As more and more media goes digital, it makes more sense to get a good e-book reader than it is to buy the original hard print cover. Featuring a library of e-books, newspapers, magazines and blogs the Amazon Kindle is the new slimmer and sleeker e-book reader offering a host of new features. Read the short review below for more information.

Design: The new Amazon Kindle is thin at 0.36 inch at the thickest part and weighs at just 10.2 ounces. To make space for the keyboard, Amazon has made the reader longer, measuring 8 inches from top to bottom. The reader uses an electrophoretic display to reduce eyestrain. The on/off button is placed at the top of the reader with two small speaker ports behind for easier access.

Specifications: Featuring no back-light, the Amazon Kindle's 6 inch "e-ink" display offers 600x800 pixel resolutions at 167 ppi.
Related Videos:

The screen offers 16 shades of gray while the font size can be adjusted to six different levels. The reader can also connect wirelessly to Amazon's Whispernet to access Amazon's huge online Kindle Store (only accessible for the US) with the ability to go down to 1XRTT if it cannot connect to 3G. While web surfing is possible, there is no support for flash or video. Through Whispersync you can send an e-book to another reader, provided both are registered. The battery has been sealed into the device but now offers 25 percent more battery life, lasting from several days to a week on a single charge. The memory has been upgraded to 2GB but has no expansion slot for additional memory. However, the reader can only handle converted files that Amazon will charge you 10 cents to do so.

Features & Performance: The Amazon Kindle's keyboard is now more useful with easier to access buttons. New features include Text-to-Speech that sounds robotic but is intelligible. Other features include a new charging system through a micro-USB cable and adapter. The reader can play MP3 and AAC files or connect via USB to your computer. The interface has also been upgraded with a more easy to use five-way rocker button. All in all the Amazon Kindle lasts much longer (battery), reads better and navigates a lot easier compared to its predecessor and other competitors making it ideal for those living within range of the Whispernet network.

Related Information:
Is it worth to buy Amazon Kindle for Philippines Use?
With the recent price cut of the kindle. I am planning to really buy one. But I read issues with screen that prevent me from buying the device.

Is there anyone from the philippines that bought Kindle and had no issue with the screen or anything...

I own the Kindle, so let me give you some of my opinions. It is a great device, and I've to say I love it! I think I've read over 30 books with my Kindle, no glitches so far! And since Kindle books are cheaper than actual books, I think I've saved around $120 on buying books already. I never meet any problem for the screen too.

One of the reasons I love my Kindle is that it has helped me improve a lot on my efficiency and utilize my time. Before I have the Kindle, waiting time like when I'm waiting for friends or waiting for shuttle bus or some thing like that is simply wasted. Now I just need to bring the Kindle 2 along with me, and all my favorite books are inside it. Another thing I like the most is the text-to-speech function, which means I can "read" books without even holding or looking at the Kindle. Now I like to use this function when I've myself busy on some boring things, say when I'm on the step machine or doing some housework...

I like reading and at the beginning I did miss a bit on the feeling of reading books. But now I love to hold the Kindle, the e-ink seems to work very well, it is really like reading books... Now I often read with the Kindle for several hours but I don't feel tired... And I now prefer to manage all books inside the Kindle rather than my never big enough bookshelf... And like to do bookmarking, annotation, dictionary lookup without any additional thing but a Kindle.

There are quite a lot of free books (tips: if you're outside the U.S. all the books will have US$2 added, but when you choose to download to computer when you check out, the $2 will be waived, and you can copy the books to your Kindle through USB cable), and many Kindle books, magazines and newspapers are cheaper than the actual paper version. I remember I read these reviews about the benefits of the Kindle when I decided to buy it:

And below are the millions of free books and full list of bestselling books for the Kindle, that you can check from time to time:

Are you an avid reader? Well maybe it is time to put down the book and pickup the Amazon Kindle 2. The Amazon Kindle can deliver almost any book in existence to you in less than 60 seconds no matter where you are in the world. Using a global network the Kindle wireless reading device has become the standard for many book lovers worldwide.

The Kindle unlike many other ebook readers offers all the most popular and recent releases on it's system. You do not have to do to the book store or wait for you next book to be shipped to your door anymore. Just tell the Kindle what book you are looking for and you will have it almost instantly as this miracle device downloads it directly to you where ever you are.
Related Videos:

Unlike other wireless networks with spotty coverage, the whisper network covers the globe. Kindle connects free to Whisper (Sprint EV-DO 3G network). In some areas the Whisper network is not available, so the Kindle will still get you connected via a secondary protocol called 1xRTT. This is a backup to make sure you connectivity where ever you may roam

The new design of the Kindle 2 is even slimmer than the past models, but also offers a longer battery life for even more reading pleasure before you need to recharge it. Most readers are getting between 2-3 days of use between charges. I wish my cell phone would do that!

The slim design also cuts down on the overall weight of the Kindle making it even more portable and lightweight, so now it is just as easy to carry around as you favorite softcover book used to be. The best think about the Amazon Kindle 2 is that it can download your favorite books in seconds, so you never run out of reading material. Can you imaging finishing one book in a series and then only having to wait a few seconds to get the next book! This is a really cool toy and many people are starting to put down the books they used to love and never look back.

Of course Amazon is the place to buy and they have many special add-on products for the Kindle like carry sleaves, chargers and the likes. So take a look at the brand new Kindle and see the new price they have too. You now can also purchase the Kindle in 2 sizes, so if you want a bigger reading area, no problem.

Related Information:
How do i get billed on my amazon kindle?
I need to know how and when i get billed for my kindle books.

It depends on how your Amazon account is registered to pay. Here are all the payment methods available for Kindle device and Kindle books:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?ie=UTF8&nodeId=518224&tag=ereader-2-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

So if your Amazon account is associated with credit card, it will be charged to the credit card immediately after you bought the Kindle books, and you'll have to pay on the credit card payment date.

This article is going to mainly focus on the Amazon Kindle 2 Coupons. Find out which coupons are available right now and the benefits that are associated with them. This is a good information source for people who are looking to save money.

One of the best new technology gadgets available is the Amazon Kindle 2. This is an amazing e-book reader that everyone seems to love and others seem to want. This article will take a look at this product, focusing on the different coupons and discounts that are available.

What Kindle 2 Coupons are Available?

As of right now, there are no Amazon Kindle 2 Coupons available. Many people who are looking to purchase this device and want to save money are kinda out of luck. These coupon codes were first used when the device came out as a way to get people interested in the e-book reader.
Related Videos:

Over time, these coupon codes were abandoned as there was a high demand for the product. So for those people who are searching for working Kindle 2 Coupons, you will not find any.

Where Can I Get Discounts on the Kindle 2?

Amazon.com - The best place right now to get a discounted Kindle 2 is directly from Amazon.com. Amazon has reduced the price of their product from $299 to $259. This cheaper price makes the reader more affordable and this can be seen as it is one of the company's bestselling products. If you want a Kindle at low price, then this is the best place to go.

Purchasing it Second Hand - Buying an Amazon Kindle 2 second-hand is a good way to get one on discount. You can buy from Craigslist or eBay and save a couple of dollars as there are hundreds of these devices available on there. They won't be brand spanking new, but if saving money is your goal, then check out those websites for deals.

To wrap up everything, right now there are no Kindle Discount codes available. People who want to save money on this product can purchase it for the new price or they can visit places such as eBay or Craigslist to get a used one for cheap. Whichever way that you decide to go, you will be guaranteed of one thing and that is you will very soon be the proud owner of one of the coolest gadgets ever made.

Related Information:
Can you use an American Express gift card on an Amazon Kindle?
I am trying to find different ways to purchase an Amazon Kindle without using a credit card. HELP!!!

Sorry, no. At most you can use Amazon Gift Card to purchase the Kindle:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?ie=UTF8&nodeId=200375750&tag=elec-m-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957

May be you can ask for Amazon gift card, so you can buy the Kindle device, as well as accessories and ebooks on it:

If you have yet to jump on the ebook reader craze then you may be wondering whether you should buy the ebook reader that started it all - the original Kindle 1. Or choose the updated Kindle 2, or even perhaps if you should by a Sony Reader instead. With so many to choose from, which one is right for you?

In this article I'll go over some of the features of the original Amazon Kindle 1 so you can decide if it's still worth buying, or you should upgrade instead.
Related Videos:

Back in late 2007 when the Kindle 1 first appeared, the ebook reader market was relatively small in the U.S. and while there were some readers already on the market (such as the Sony Reader), it was mainly being bought by high tech gadget lovers. It wasn't until Amazon bought the Kindle to the everyday book reader that people started to get excited about it.

When it launched it sold out within 5 hours. I think everybody, not least Amazon, were taken completely by surprise and just how much demand the everyday reader would embrace the technology.

It was sleek, could hold up to 200 books, was wireless (which means you could use it all over the country) and was relatively light and small to carry around.

But it wasn't without its faults. Many people complained that some of the buttons where not in a logical place and images didn't display very well on screen.

So Amazon went back and has bought out its latest version, the Kindle 2. An updated version that is smaller and more compact, can hold nearly double the amount of books and addresses many of the problems that customers wanted in the original machine.

Essentially the Amazon Kindle 2 it is a much improved version and probably worth your while paying that bit extra for the special features, rather than worrying about the original reader (which Amazon doesn't even sell anymore).

Related Information:
I just ordered an Amazon Kindle, how long till it is shipped to my house?
