So everything will work except the wireless internet access, and you can read books which are already on your Kindle. If you use an Amazon account with US credit card and shipping address, you can even buy any books you want from Kindle store and download to your computer, then transfer it to your Kindle. This is like the method used when a US people travel to other countries.
So if you have a friend in the U.S., you can send the link of the Kindle device or Kindle book that you want to your friend, and ask may be ask them to buy it for you.
And in case you haven't got the Kindle device, take the chance as Amazon has recently announced a price slash on the Kindle 2. It is now selling $60 cheaper than the price I got mine (which is $359 when I got mine).
